Halloween is coming

To stretch my printing skills, I made up a Halloween broadside. It was an excerpt from Shakespeare's Macbeth witches scene.

 

I couldn't find a font with enough letters to write three lines of the poem. I used five different fonts, six counting the title! This doesn't bode well for future printing. While I was there, I remembered to photograph the Linotype machine.

 

And finally a kitten photo, Natawny lounging on the porch.

Of sealing wax and gauge pins, beauty berries, and lovely moons

The bar that looks like a crayon is sealing wax!  Used to hold the gauge pins in place.

Two new finishes

Two new book finishes.  One with etched copper cover and the other made with scraps.  Used coptic stitch instructions from Alisa Golden's Making Handmade Books.

The good. The perfect shade of grape purple!

The OK.  A very simple print with a bit of typography magic.  Almost pulled it off!

The bad?  Still using too much ink.

Also pretty good, managed to use gauge pins as should.  Twelve prints! 

Christmas is around the corner

All over cross stitch done by my talented sister.  Incredible!
